Healthcare impact on Silence to Violence habit:
Silence is the act of refraining from speaking. It is also called as quiteness. From olden days many praised ' Silence'. People viewed the silent people or individual who respond very gently or quiely are noble ones and those break the silence or responds to some thing, as aggressive people. But in the present world 'Silence' is doing more harm than the violence. Violence is always viewed as a negative word. Silence to Violence habit is referring to positive movement of breaking the Silence of the victims or survivors and open up their experience , that they suffered. They can ventilate their feelings, from the violence that they undegone. So breaking the Silence is meant by the word ' Violence ' .
Healthcare can impact its clients' 'silence to Violence habit. Both the clients and health cate workers are keeping silence against many evils. Research show that nearly 80 % of Health professionals such as Doctors and nurse witnessed that there Co workers' unethical behaviours towrds patient or to the subordinates. But only 10 % break the silence and reporting it , So that the unethical practice should not repeat again. Remaining 70 % are in the category of ' Silence ' . But it is doing more harm. Change should come within Health care workers itself.
Healthcare professionals can encourage the patients, who are the victims of sexual or domestic abuse to open up to the law and order about the incident. Healthcare professionals should give the psychological support for ' breaking the silence '. Healthcare organisations should organise Awareness camps on 'breaking the silence' against Human trafficking, child abuse , rape , assault, domestic violence etc. Many criminals are living peacefully in their houses, where the victims still living in confusion , distress and depression. Proper response and legal steps are the appropriate measures for reducing this distress. Otherwise the ' Silence ' become the encouraging factor for the abuser, criminals to do more offense.
* Personally, as a Health professional I encourage the patients , those who open up their bad experience , to respond to it wisely and not to keep Silent. Silence is a reinforcing factor for Domestic violence too. I used to educate the student health workers as how to identify the ' victims of abuse'. So that they can also help them to break the silence.
* The leader: A leader is a person , who directs or leads.
Ms. Tharana Burke ,An Activst from New York who works for women, and started 'Me Too' movement in social media, encouraged the people especially, female to break the silence and she supported the habit of ' Silence to Violence '. Many got inspiration by her and started to open up the Work place harassment, sexual abuse, discriminations and many untold violence secrets. She got the achievement of ' Time person of the Year' for 2017 , along with other activists .
