Answer:The risk factors and implications of an elevated bilirubin are rare but highly complicated in the neonates. The newborn those have high level of the bilirubin requires phototherapy. I'm some of the cases where the severity is more, it requires blood transfusion. If the treatment is not provided on the time, it may cause encephalopathy, deafness or any kind of neurological disorder.

The intervention that need to be performed and delayes the infant's discharge is providing treatment such as phototherapy, nutritions. Intravenous immunoglobulin may required.
