Answer #1

Factors affecting family's nutrional status

  1. Economic status: low income in the family leads to less chance of getting healthy food items. Poverty and starvation are the after effects of low economic status, which in turn affects the health status of the family.
  2. Living situation: Socio and environmental situations affects the nutrional status. Living in a pathetic condition with low economic status, cleanliness, affects the nutrion of the family, thus affecting the health status.
  3. Transportation: people who are living in remote areas, where transportation facilities are less, they are unable to get food items regularly, they have to depend on the locally available food items which inturn causes deficiency of specific nutrients.
  4. Food choices: cultural variations leads to restriction in selecting food items. For eg: certain caste does not eat non vegetarian foods, hence they will be prone to have VitB 12 deficiency.

There are many National nutrional programmes to improve the nutrional status of the people. They are Anemia control programm, mid day meal programm, iodine deficiency control program, school lunch programm, vitamin A prophylaxis, ICDS.
