In the world's perspective food is to provide nutrition and is necessary at a daily basis. But in the Bible Jesus Christ has quoted Himself as  
“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” as in the New Testament of the Bible in
John :6:35
Also it is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Matthew 4:4

And in the world's perspective water is a basic need of any human being.
John 4:14
Verse Concepts"but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
Christians are baptized with or in water, so water itself is symbolizing a purification of the soul, and an admission into the faith.
