A patient advocate is a person who helps or guides a patient through the healthcare system in terms of screening, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of a medical condition. They may also help patients in setting up appointments for doctor visits, medical tests and get financial, legal, and social support.

Example where nurse as a patient advocate:

  1. Improve the quality of patient's everyday life through education. Nurse as patient advocate,educate patients on how to magage thier health condition and treatment they undergoing for recovery. This an important way nurses can make a difference and can make patient confident about his or her health.
  2. Patients’ rights can be protected by knowing their wishes. It can be achieved by communicating with the patient's family members to make the patient happy.
