In fortification process there is addition of nutrients or non-nutrients in the edible products. There was a national program for the fortification of foods to balance the total nutritional requirement of the diet as the enrichment process. It not added yet the Vitamin A a major fat soluble vitamin as it can not be addedin the variety of the foods and also not essential. In 1998  the policy of fortification of food was prominently initiated in the form of a systematic approach to shortout the nutritional deficiencies in the population in US. In 1998  US Food and Nutrition Board advised the fortification or enrichment of the foods for the fulfillment of nutritional requirement of the pregnant women as well as nutitional compromized populations. It majorly contains folic acid and other vitamin B complex along with the essential minerals.
