The answer is option c. They are used first in most uncomplicated cases of type 2 DM. If the blood glucose levels are controlled by oral hypoglycemic it is the preferred method of treatment in type 2 DM. Insulin is used in Uncontrolled and complicated type 2 DM. Type 1 diabetes is due to insulin deficiency so insulin is the drug choice. Oral hypoglycemic are not the first choice of drug in type 1 DM. Insulin and oral hypoglycemic agents are not given upon the patient's preference rather it is titrated based on blood glucose levels and HbA1c levels.
