Family nursing is a specialised nursing in which a nurse collaborate with the the family in a way to alleviate emotional , physical and spiritual suffering resulting into or from the illness. It is concerned in understanding people's experiences of health and illness within the context of the family.

2. Family assessment takes into account family structure, values being shared and interactions among members into account whereas in individual assessment, personal values of a client are noticed.

Solutions to family issues are also searched in addition to individual issues whereas there is no concern to family issues in individual assessment.
