A) When people recover from tetanus or infections of clostridium botulinum , they don't attain protection or life long immunity against the future infection.So they need passive or active immunisation

Passive immunity is attained by administration of preformed antibodies.

Primary advantages of passive immunity :

  • Immune response occurs quickly within few hours or a few days, faster than a vaccine and lasts from few weeks to months.
  • It helps in preventing and slowing down of the disease progression.
  • It is helpful in immunodeficient or immunocompromised people who are not responding to immunization.
