A 68 year old man is hospitalized for possible pneumonia. His past medical history is significant because of three outpatient courses of antibiotics over the last 2 months with tetracycline, erythromycin, and levofloxaicn. However, he has stated that on some occasions, he stopped taking the antibiotic prematurely because he felt better and on other occasions. He discontinued the antibiotic because of an upset stomach. What type of education would you give this patient?

We should educate the client like, Dont stop taking medications until it is all gone even if you feel better, If you dont take it all symptoms may return and may be harder to treat.Take doses at evenly spaced times throught the day and night.This keeps an even amount of medication in the blood. If you missess a dose as soon as remember unless it is almost time for the next dose skip the dose that is missed dont take the double dose.Dont take these medications with soft drinks or juice.
