An example of ethical dilemma; withdrawal or not withdrawal of the life support from a patient of cancer who is terminally ill and unconscious i.e. not is a position to give informed consent.

It can be resolved step by step by the providers; by the first step being; taking a decision based on the advance directive left by the patient. Thus it will ensure patient centered care.

Step two if the patient has left no advance directive we should consult the immediate family for taking any action based on the case study of Karen Ann Quinlan.
