A brief history of telehealth in Ontario
The Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) is the outcome of the April 2006 alliance of three small town-financed telemedicine systems. It is one of the most extensive telemedicine networks in the globe. The first telemedicine sites were launched in April 1998, which has expanded to 2600 operations over the territory.
PURPOSE
It is a free service that enables Ontario citizens to talk to a Registered Nurse with their medical or health puzzles at any period of the day or night, granted 24 hours a day, seven days a week
The current direction
OTN’s current direction is on the absolute alliance of telemedicine into the rural health care system and to make it viable to improve and extend aids commonly given in hospitals and to combine with institutions and areas.
