First of all is needle size represented as represented as G i.e. the gauge is needle. the higher the value of the G thinner the needle will be.

Second one is the length of needle in the inches.

Both measurements or parameters have significant impact while giving the injection to the patient.

The Needle gauge value i..e. G affects the frequency of the pain while insetion of the needle in the skin of the patient.

Length of needle in the inches determines that how deep the injecting material can be administerd in various types of the injections like intradermal, subcutaneous etc. Higher length of the needle indicates the deeper penietrability of the injections and hence imparting higher pain.
