Nursing in community health is the practice of promoting and protecting the health of the community. Think of your current role and what you have learned this week about the functions of the community health nurse. How do you promote and protect the community? How can you improve in this area? • Promote and protection of community.
1) Identify the problems occuring in the particular community. Such as- any disease condition, lifestyle of the community people etc.
2) Determine the communicable diseases like HIV, hepatitis A,B,C, Rhinitis non-communicable diseases like coronary artery diseases, Myocardial infarction, rheumatoid arthritis etc and parasitic diseases like hook warm, ascariasis, any type of malnutrition due to diarrhoea, protein-energy malnutrition etc.
3) The community people should be instructed to maintain personal hygiene by hand washing before and after taking food, after defecation.
4) Instruct them to keep environment clean.
5)use of appropriate latrine prevent ascariasis, hook warm infection.
6) Instruct them to clean the vegetables with fresh, warm water water before cooking.
7) Discourage them for alcohol and drug abusing.
8) Mouth should be covered with handkerchief during sneezing and coughing to prevent the disease transmission through droplets.
9) pure water should drink.
10) Unhealthy and junck food should be avoided to prevent coronary artery diseases.
11) Shoes should be use during walking in the road to prevent invasion of any micro- organisms.
12) Carbohydrate rich food, protein rich food, Vitamins should be provided.

1) Improvement is possible by given health teaching, plan teaching program to the community people.
2) Inform them about vaccination .
3)provide teaching about the care of pregnant mother and new born baby which decreases mortality rate. Refer them to join in Janani Suraksha Yojona.
4) Teach them about family planning. Eliminate superstition about girl child and male child.
5) Encourage them to go to the school.
6) Teach them about importance of mid day meal program, which prevents mal- nutrition.
7) Discourage the people about domestic violence.
8) Teach them to live in ventilated room.
9) Inform and encourage them to join Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojona, those who have no house for living.
