The patient should take medicines exactly as prescribed,no double dose should be taken.In a patient with left sided Heart failure,left ventricle cardiac output is less than volume received from the pulmonary circulation,hence blood accumulates in left ventricles,left atrium,and pulmonary circulation.The dosage of diuretics are not just made based on the oedema of the extremities,its based on many other factors like signs of congestion of heart,Jugular venous pressure,pulmonary rales and congestion of chest in x-ray.And it's always dangers to adjust dose of Diuretics by patient himself.
