STANDARD OF CARE IN PRESCRIBING PROCESS

Prescribing process is the process of writing certain medications by health care professionals in treatment of patients.

Standards of care: Certain points to be remembered before prescribing any medication. They are as follows :

  • Proper medical history of the patient has to be collected
  • Select cost effective drugs
  • Consider patients views and concerns regarding medical treatment
  • Follow the national guidelines for prescription of drugs
  • Communicate with the patient about medications to be prescribed
  • Prevent from any kind of medication errors
  • Consider adverse effects of drugs
