Homework Answers

Answer #1

Given

Order:Titrate Nipride

Available :500mg (5000mcg)

Volume :250ml D5W

Dose:0.3-10mcg/kg/min

Weight :80kg

First calculate for 0.3mcg/kg/min

When 1kg= 0.3mcg

Then 80kg=??mcg

Cross multiply and divide

=80*0.3/1

=80*0.3

=24mcg/min

Now to calculate for 10mcg/kg/min

As 1kg=10mcg

Then 80kg=??mcg

Cross multiply and divide

=80*10/1

=80*10

=800mcg/min

Now calculate the volume given in minute

As 5000mcg=250ml

Then 24mcg=??ml

=24*250/5000

=6000/5000

=1.2ml/min

Now for 800mcg

=800*250/5000

=200,000/5000

=40ml/min

Now calculate the flow eate

=Flow rate :volume(ml)/Time(min)*drop factor

Here 15gtt/min is standard drop factor

For lowest dose of 24mcg/min

=1.2/1*15

=1.2*15

=18gtt/min

For highest dose of 10mcg/min

=40/1*15

=40*15

=600 gtt/min
