Current state of North AmericanDiet and Health:-

.High amount of processed carbohydrates and sugars;-Foods like bread ,cereal have dominated in their diet,as these are readily available, convenient and easy to store.these refined carbohydrates have little nutritional value and are very calorie dense leading to increased daily calorie intake and which leads to weight gain and further obesity along with chronic diseases like Diabetes ,Coronary artery diseases.

.Less intake of vegetables and fruits;-The recommended intake of vegetables are 8-10 servings per day,but the average North American's consume only 1-2 servings.

.High intake of calories late in the day;-Most of them are engaged in watching TV or stayed infront of the computer as they get back from work,so they are not burning much energy, the body will store these calories for times of energy needs.

.Poor consumption of healthy fats;-The North American diet lacks serious amounts of monosaturated and polysaturated fats which are necessary for the body functions, instead of this their diet contais more amounts of trans fats which are unhealthy.

.Fixed 3meals per day routine;-The problem with this eating pattern is ,people do not eat for long periods, thenthey consume higher quantity, this puts a lot of stress on the digestive system as well as creating overload of energy ,which the body will not use.

.Breakfast with less proteins and nutritious foods;-Most of them consume cereals for breakfast, this is a processed food which contains no quality proteins and deficient nutrients.A good quality protein in the morning will give you sustained energy and fuel the muscles during physical activity.

.Less intake of water;-North Americans's consume more dairy than water, and many of them are having lactose intolerances.Adequate hydration is required for the body to function properly.
