Answer #1

Uraemic Pruritus is common in patients with stage 5 chronic kidney disease. Uraemia refers to the accumulation of excess of urea in the blood and it occurs when the kidneys are no longer able to excrete the nitrogenous waste products ( urea).Uraemic pruritus is also called as CKD associated pruritus . The main causes of uremic pruritus are the urea and  abnormal metabolism of calcium and phosphorus / increased parathyroid hormones. Potassium does not have a effect on pruritus in stage 5 CKD.
