SIGNS OF INFANT READINESS TO FEED

:Baby can sit up well without support.

:Baby has los the tongue thrust reflex and does not automatically push solids out of his mouth with his tongue.

:Baby is ready and willing to chew.

:Baby is developing a pincer grasp, where he picks up food or other objects between thumb and forefinger. Using the fingers and scrapings the food into the palm of the hand does not substitute for pincer grasp development.

:Baby is eager to participate in mealtime and may try to grab food and put it in his mouth .

We should alert while giving food that have high chances of chocking hazard eg:uncoocked raisins, whole peas, raw firm-fleshed veggies or fruits and also be alert while giving allergic food eg:peanuts,egg,wheat

Food that avoid to infants or children

:Honey_avoid giving honey to infants that may contain the organism Clostridium botulism it causes botulism to babies

:cow's milk -it hard to digest and also cause anemia to babies .

Fruit juices -it cause tooth decay, diarrhea and other abdominal problems.

:Refined grains

:Unpasteurized food-it cause serious health problems

:smoked or cured meats-it contain nitrate and high sodium.

:High mercury fish-eg:shark,sword fish, fresh tuna and king mackerel.

:Salt-high amount of salt leads to kidney problems in infant.
