Question

What are independent and dependent variables

What are independent and dependent variables

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer. When an experiment is run, the variables which can be changed, altered or manipulated, are called independent variables. These measures are the cause and are independent among other variables.

The dependent variables are the fixed measures of the experiment which are the effects of changes in independent variables.

For example, in the course of growing a plant, the independent variables could be the type of light, temperature, humidity, etc in which the plant is grown under. And it effects are shown in dependent variables by showing the rate of growth of plant with above mentioned variables.

For example, while administrations of medicines or while providing different treatment methods (as independent variables) on different groups will affect the results (dependent variables) or the outcomes on the patients.

what are the independent and dependent variables in this A quality control supervisor measures the quality of a steel ingot on a scale from 0 to 10. He designs an experiment in which three different temperatures (ranging from 1100 to 1200 F) and five different pressures (ranging from 500 to 600 psi) are utilized, with 20 ignots produced at each temperature-pressure combination.
