B. gtts/minute:_____

C. Total running time of Plain NM:______

D. mgtts/minute:_______

Homework Answers

Answer #1

A. 1000 ml is run for 16 hours

so that would be 1000/16 = 62.5ml/hr

B. gtts/min equals drops/min

1ml = 20 drops

62.5ml/hr= 1250 drops in one hour which on dividing by 60 min works out to be 21 drops/min or 21 gtts/min

C. NM is run for 7 hours everyday. so for 3 days. it would be 8x3= 21 hours

70ml/hr is the speed and 500 ml would be over in approx 7 hrs(70x7=490 ml)

D. I am assuming 1 mgtts to be micro gtts

1 gtts = 3 micro gtts

70ml/hr= 1.16 gtts/min

which works out to be 1.16x3= 3.5 mgtts/min
