How did health insurance in the United States become employer-based without government mandates?

They are three reasons that health insurance become employer based without government:

  • In world war II the united states congress forced Wage Freezes in an attempt to control war time purchasing, many employers started offering health insurance to their workers to makeup the loss of raises in their salaries.
  • The united states supreme court ruled the employee benefits were a legal part of union management negotiation in 1948. Health insurance became an important part for collective bargaining between the union and employers.
  • In 1954,the united states congress amended the internal revenue code to make form employer paid health coverage insurance is non taxable. In their economic value employee health insurance was equal to get extra salary without an tax to pay to the government that provides an incentive extra benefit to their employees.Private health insurances become the vehicles for their their care services in the united states.
