1) Why do you think the health field concept was so important in getting people to think about health promotion? Support your answer with inclusion of topics such as determinants of health, levels of prevention, leading causes of death, etc.

Health field concept refers to the framework that includes all the factors that affects health including the health care system. Health field concept consist of four elements; human biology, environment, lifestyle and health care organizations. These are also called as the determinants of health. Biological determinants includes the physical, mental and genetic characteristics of the individual. Lifestyle determines " the way people live" and reflects the social values, attitudes and activities. Health requires the promotion of healthy lifestyle. Environment refers to all that is internal and external to the individual. Environment has a direct impact on the mental ,physical and social wellbeing of the individual. Health care organizations also gives a wide spectrum of preventive and curative services for the promotion of health.

The leading causes of death in the world are due to non communicable, communicable diseases and accidents. For example About 8,00,000 people are died due to COVID 19 pandemic. These can be prevented by using various levels of prevention. There are 4 different levels of prevention.

Primordial prevention is a new concept involving the prevention of the emergence or development of risk factors by using individual and mass health education.

Primary prevention involves the prevention of initial occurrence of disease or injury ,example - nutrition education, family planning, smoking cessation .

Secondary prevention involves health screening for disease, example - Heath check up for TB, breast self examination, blood investigations.

Tertiary prevention involves maximization of recovery after an injury , it includes nutrition counseling , physical ,occupational therapy and other rehabilitative methods.
