An RN must demonstrate her knowledge and skills while administrating medication. Medication administration is one for the most common and important procedure undertaken by the nurse. She must-

- educate the client about medications

- prepare and administer medication using the rights of the medication administration

-review the clients data such as lab results, allergies etc prior to medication administration

- evaluate the appropriateness and accuracy of medication order for the client.

* Medications should not be left unattended at the patient's bedside.

* Every institution has some accepted rules and regulations about practices. A nurse should be well versed with the acceptable norms of the institution.

* Charting or proper documentation of the procedure is a must.
