Lipase is one of the enzyme produced in the pancreas .It should range between 0-160 U/L. Some of the reason for the pancreatic enzymes to attack the pancreas is when there is a cessation of lipase  to travel to small intestine for digestion or to breakdown fats due to any blockage this will get back into pancreas again . This enzyme will irritate the pancreas. As a result of this inflammatory process occurs, leading to pancreatitis .This in simple affects the pancreas if increases beyond normal range .
