SOME HEALTH CARE ISSUES THAT CONCERNS PRACTICING NURSE:

  • OVERLOAD: Due to long working hours, more census of patient in hospital leads to stress and concerns nurses affect their practice.
  • SHORTAGE IN STAFF: This is the most important and concern causing factor among practicing nurses. It also affects personal and professional life as it disturbs nurse in both areas.
  • LACK OF RESOURCES: Due to a shortage of PPE, adequate working facilities, lack of resources like computers, good conditions, less recreational activities, lack of training education, lack of transport system all leads to concerns among practicing nurses.
  • COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: We can take the example of COVID19 as this leads to anxiety, stress, and pressure on nurses because of insecurity and fear to get infection. This also can be due to poor PPE quality and utilization.
  • NO COLLECTIVE BARGAINING: Due to no association or union in an organisation also leads to concerns, because due to this nurses can be deprive from their rights, poor salary, no agreement, no negotiation all these leads to the pressure of employers on their employees.
  • ETHICAL DILEMMAS: sometimes, nurse has to follow ethical concerns over care of patient. Some times nurse find themselves in between advocacy of patient and fear adverse career repercussions if they do so.
  • WORKPLACE HAZARDS: Sometimes nurse find themselves between workplace hazards and work. For example, pregnant nurse is working under radiation department, they have to change the department due to this or some time has to left the work. Other than that it can fire, exposure to carcinoma drugs, etc.
  • BOSSY INCHARGE, LACK OF MONITORING: Sometime nurse has to face to autocratic leaders or sometime they feel lack of supervision and monitoring on their practice. All this leads to lack of participation in decision making and poor outcomes.
  • MISCOMMUNICATION: nurses has to face the miscommunication or ineffective handovers related to patient condition, poor attitude of doctors, one way communications all these things leads to great concern among nurse as it affects their practice.
  • POOR TRAINING AND INSERVICE EDUCATION: poor inservice training, training leads to poor advancement and lack of future opportunities which can be barrier in future advancement of nurse.
