what is the difference in reimbursement to a hospital between a typical inpatient and observation patient? ?
When a patient is admitted as an inpatient but the insurance comoany doesn't consider it as an inpatient and can refuse the claim considering the patient as an outpatient and that can increase the pay share of the hospital and give a financial hit. Incase of the outpatient care the share is always higher than the impatient care. If insurance company doesn't reimburse the refusing the patient of an inpatient then hospital can make a case against insurance company.
