Category Class: Alkylating Agents anticancerous agent or chemotherapeutic agent

Expected Pharmacological Action: It alkylates or binds to DNA and exert cytotoxic affect via  cross-linking of strands of DNA, inhibiting the protein syntesis, required for the survival of the cells.

Therapeutic Use: chemotherapeutic agent means in tretment of various cancers like Lupus Nephritis as well as Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Complications: cyclophosphamide treatment complications: hair loss, change in skin color and loss of appetite

Contraindications/Precautions:  in patient with hypersensitivity reactions, in case of patient having hepatic or renal impairment, also in case of thrombocytopenia

Interactions: it interacts with ACE inhibitors like losartan causing leukopenia.

Medication Administration: In oral dose of about 2 mg per kg also avialable as dry powder injection.

Nursing Interventions: monitoring of the urinary symptoms, palpitaion and weight loss monitoring and respiratory status monitoring.

Patient Education: In case of presence of blood in urine and chest discomfort it is advised to sudden report to the doctor.
