For example: In COPD patients:

- A focused respiratory system assessment includes:

• Asking subjective data: patient's history of smoking, family's history of pulmonary disease, any signs and symptoms of pulmonary disease, such as cough and shortness of breath.

This focused nursing assessment enables us to be very specific about the risk factors that pose the patient into the disease threat & also gives way to provide nursing interventions for the patient.
