What is the reason why inotropics is important in management of CHF?
CHF - Congestive heart failure is a condition in which the heart is enable to pump sufficient blood to meet metabolic demand of the body It result from low cardiac output
Intropic- related or influence the force of myocardial contractibility.
Intropic are used in the heart failure to increase force of contraction of the myocardium. As a age progress or heart disease the heart gets weaken and not able to pump the blood to meet the demand of the body. A decreases amount of oxygenated blood leaves the left ventricle during each myocardial contraction. Decrease in cardiac output result in the low blood supply to brain, kidney, and other vital organ. Blood is not come back due to weak pumping of heart and blood accumulates or cingest in the body tissues leads to congestion , legs and ankle swell. To compensate the low cardiac output the heart rate increse to increase the cardiac output but fails to deliver blood to vital organs. The intropic drugs increse the force of contraction result in an increase cardiac output. It act on nervous system and increase the heart muscle contraction and heart rate, when cardiac output increse the blood supply increase to vital organs. The water, electrolyte and waster products is removed in adequate amount and symptoms of inadequate heart action or failure is relieved.
Exampl of intropin is dopamine.
