Antibiotics are one of the major innovation in medicine. This has saved many lives from dead end of infectious disease especially caused by bacteria but frequent and unnecessary prescription of this class of drug for mild cases has lead to antibiotic resistance in the last several years. Moreover these medications where in patients reach easily to an extent as OTC medications in many part of the world .This has greatly increased the antibiotic resistance and making patient to be treated with multiple drugs.Hence it is recommended and used more sparingly in the last several years to prevent antibiotic resistance.

Why would antibiotics that affect the ribosome kill bacteria without harming their host? A. Antibiotics form different types of bonds with prokaryotic proteins and eukaryotic proteins, so only the interactions with prokaryotic proteins affect ribosome function. B. Prokaryotic ribosomes have a different structure than eukaryotic ribosomes, so antibiotics that bind to one cannot bind to the other. C.Eukaryotes are more complex than prokaryotes. D. Fungi do not need to kill eukaryotes, only prokaryotes.

Nearly all the antibiotics used to stop bacterial infections are natural compounds that come from microbes themselves. For example, penicillin is derived from a fungus, while vancomycin, the antibiotic used when bacteria are resistant to many other drugs, comes from a bacterium. Furthermore, although many antibiotics are chemically synthesized to resemble natural antibiotics, the “models” for them are natural products of microbes themselves. As more bacteria become resistant to traditional antibiotics, alternative drugs must be found. Recently, scientists discovered a...
