Using Kolb’s abstract conceptualization stage, share some of the life experiences a neonatal nurse may encounter. Please refer to the subtopics:
Subtopic 1: Describe overcoming limited resources (time constraints, inadequate staffing, limited budget) to ensure patients received quality care
Subtopic 2: Recall how health care providers became leaders and community builders including your experiences as a leader and community builder
Subtopic 3: Nursing theory rarely mirrors actual, nursing practice. Describe your transition into nursing practice and discuss how you adapted/overcame differences between theory and nursing practice; nursing theory rarely mirrors the actual nursing practice
Subtopic 4: Discuss productive approaches to apathy, incompetence, or neglect by colleagues in a health care setting
Subtopic 5: Explain providing for the personal or emotional needs of patients (as opposed to only the physical needs) even with a heavy patient load
Subtopic 6: Describe how you prevent burnout syndrome and post-traumatic stress disorder
Kolbs abstract conceptualization stage works on four stages
1.concrete experience:- it means having actually experiences and relating it with future prospects
2.reflective observation :- reviewing on the experience to understand it much better
3. abstract conceptulisation:- it means learning from the experience and getting conclusion from the experience
4. active experimentation:- planning further or trying out what actually you learned from the experience.

Resources are most of the time limited be it in human resources, materials, time constraints. A neonatal nurse needs to be more vigilent , fast and instantly proactive as the care unit there demands nurses to be prompt and active 24/7.
With limited resources in terms of time constraints, inadequate staffing, limited budget etc a neonatal nurse should plan task wisely.
she will have to develop the priority plan at the baseline, so that she undertands which task is more important and urgent. According to it complete the task.
Mark the task which is done so that there is no point of confusion.
Based on the concrete experience again refering to the kolbs abstarct the planning of task completion becomes easier. past experience reveals the time taken to complete the task say for e.g neonatal cord care. Nurse reminds the cord care she has done for the neonates in the past and based on that she plans the task. Also when the materials are less that is with the limited budget ask for the supplies which are extremely important .

Healthcare providers includes all Doctors and Paramedical staff , supporting staff in the hospital and healthcare settings. Leadership is the quality which is present in the individual and it comes out when the situation is demanding. Corelating this with the following example
Nursing students are supposed to have an educational visit in different areas of health like NGOs, hospitals, Maternity Homes, Research centers, Public Health institute etc. Some students come up with the idea to plan a tour for completion of visits. A representative among the student is responsible for maintaining liasion between the institue and the nursing college students. It is thus the leadership is developed where this representative directs the group of students in order to execute the plan.
Subtopic 3
nursing theory rarely mirrors actuals. To explain it in much detail for example take any nursing procedure say handwashing it demands handwash liquid, hand towel, nail brush etc. Most of the times all supplies are not available. Even though the theory demands the procedure to be done in the proper technique with all the supplies not available it becomes difficult for the nurses to perform according to the theory.
Certain nursing procedures requires the proper technique, manner to be followed while performing however with the limited resources, time constraints, inadequate staff it cannot be done adequately. so always corelate theory with the practice and see that the principles of nursingare not compromised by any chance.
