ORIF surgery is open reduction internal fixation and is done to fix the fracture of extremities in an open procedure .

The most important things that the nurse should consider is

  1. The age of the patient and the comorbidities that the individual is suffering should be kept in mind
  2. the neuromuscular status of the fractured leg that has undergone ORIF . The feelings of sensation, the ability of the individual to move the extremities as well as the temperature sensation ability has to he checked
  3. As it is an open surgery the next priority is the providing of pain control medication.
