ANSWER 1: Performance appraisal is a systemic and periodic evaluation of employees' performance or rating the performance of employees.

PURPOSES ARE:

  • To review or evaluate the performance of the employee
  • To judge the gap or lacking area in the organization
  • To assess the need of training for a better future.
  • To make decisions regarding salary increment, promotion, demotion, or need of transfer of an employee.
  • To set the standard of performance and care.
  • To compare the standards between lacking area or mastering area.

ANSWER 2: TO MEASURE NURSE PRODUCTIVITY:

  • To measure nurse productivity you need to set goals first, if goals achieved then it will be 100 percent productivity
  • To measure productivity we can use the nurse-patient ratio
  • CHPPD is also a standard metric to measure nursing productivity. It is counting staff hours. It can be calculated by adding the working hours of RN excluding the meals or break time dividing by the total number of patient at midnight.
  • Admission, discharge and transfer method can be used to determine productivity. In this total ADT in a particular time frame should be divided by total no. of patient at midnight census.
  • It can be measure by output relative to input, hours in care divided by hours worked, etc.

  • TYPE 1 CRIMINAL INTENT: When the perpetrator has no relationship with the workplace and aim is to theft or robbery or another criminal aim.
  • TYPE 2 CLIENT/ CUSTOMER: When the perpetrator is a client, consumer, or patient who fight for their rights, or other demands.
  • TYPE 3 WORKER TO WORKER: When there is violence between workers and workers, ex or former employees are more involved in this type of violence.
  • TYPE 4 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: When the perpetrator is not either worker or a former employee but the spouse of worker and involved in violence.
  • TYPE 5 IDEOLOGICAL VIOLAECE: When there is violence for ideological, religion, and property. Example violence fir their belief, justice, etc.

ANSWER 4: REASON BEHIND THE PREVALENCE OF VIOLENCE IN HEALTH CARE ENVIRONMENT:

  • A healthcare setting is a place where all the individuals have their own stress, fear, anxiety, and emotional disturbance whether they are patients, families or employees. this will leads to agitation or aggression in the workplace.
  • High worker turnover, shortage of staff, increase census of the patient all are risk factors that disturb the person and can cause violence.
  • Hospital setting deals with all kind of patients either they are physically unhealthy or mentally unhealthy, therefore there are psychiatric patients also who can be violent and need constant supervision.
  • Loss of loved ones is one of the reson of violence where family or relatives are perpetrators and use abusive language or violence in grief of losing their loved ones.
  • Other then these reasons, diversity in healthcare settings is also one of the reson of violence in healthcare settings, different people from different religion, culture and with different values come in hospital setting, therefore mismatching in their beliefs, values and thoughts brings violence in hospital enviornment.
