Spread of COVID - 19 can be prevented in the family in the
following ways:
- Stay indoors.
- Make sure to wash your hand when your reach home.
- Hands can be washed with soap or a alcohol based
sanitizer.
- If some member in the family has symptom suggestive of covid
-19, they should be taken to the closest health facility and tested
for covid-19.
- Elderly people, patient's suffering from diabetes,
hypertension, ischemic heart disease should be kept away from
patient's suffering from covid -19. These patients are at increased
risk of developing severe forms of covid -19.
- Consume a balanced diet, drink plenty of fluid, exercise
regularly (ideal at home).
Preventive measure to prevent the spread of the disease who are
risk of contracting the disease:
- Old age home - Elderly patient are at
increased risk of developing severe form of covid-19 infection. In
the old age home, the inhabitant stay close to each other. This
increases the risk of spread of covid -19 infection.
- Following measures should be taken to prevent the spread of in
old age home:
- Avoid outsider entering the old age homes.
- Request the inhabitants against leaving the home.
- Elderly people suffer from multiple comorbities. Make sure they
are provided with uninterrupted supply of medication.
- Any individual showing symptoms of covid -19 should be
immediately take to a covid - 19 dedicated hospital.
- Irrespective of severity of symptoms, a covid-19 positive
inhabitant should be hospitalized and observed. This will help to
take timely interventions if the patient's condition deteriorates
and help seperate covid-19 positive people from negative
people.
Preventive measure to prevent the spread of the disease amongst
healthcare workers:
- The hospital should be split into covid and non-covid
section.
- The staff working in the covid section should be provided with
personal protective gear.
- After working for a certain duration in the covid section the
healthcare workers should be sent into quarantine.
- If any healthcare worker develop symptoms of covid-19 they
should be tested and isolated.
- The ICU and wards of covid-19 patient should properly
ventilated to prevent the air from getting contaminated.
- Health care worker should be housed in accomodation close to
the hospital to prevent the spread of infection from the healthcare
worker to general public
