The health team in nursing should have good communication skills with other, mutual understanding and respect, sharing of ideas and information, participation in the decision process and functioning with interprofessional team members.

The example for the impact of team functioning on safety and quality of care includes- at the time of shift changes handovering should be done between the two team members to reduce the risk of patient health. During the handovering time complete information regarding the patient has to be handovered to the shift entering member by shift relieving person. During this period good communication, knowledge, skills are needed in handovering the case, because even a small mistake can put patient life in risk. Also appreciation for the team members during the risk period in handling the cases will boost up their level of confidence and elevate their efforts in care of patient. A good understanding between the team members can solve most of the health problems and ensure safety and quality of care to patients.
