discuss the situation in which minors may be legally permitted to consent to their own medical treatment. In your opinion, should they be permitted to make their own treatment decisions in these cases? Why or why not?
The situation in which minors may be legally permitted to consent to their own medical treatment include; children below the age of 18 who are not having the support of their parents and thus they are responsible for their day-to-day decisions; may petition the court for emancipation. In case the petition is granted the minor may have the right to consent their own medical treatment, (MacNary, 2014). In my opinion, they still should not be permitted to make their own treatment decisions in these cases, because physiologically their brain is still not developed and they are minors and not capable of making correct decisions. The brain develops fully according to biology by the age of 25 years.
