Available dose of heparin = 20000 units in 500 ml D5W

Flow rate = Available volumeTime in hours

30 ml =500 Time

30 mlx time = 500 ml

Time = 50030

=16.67 hours

2.Prescribed antiobiotic diluting volume = 50 ml every 8 hours

Total volume of IV antiobiotic in 24 hours = 50 ml x 3 =150 ml

IV maintenance =100 ml/hr

IV maintenance in 24 hours = 100 x 24=2400 ml

total intake in 24 hours = 150 ml + 2400 ml =2550 ml
