Marathon

A long distance of 42.195 kilometre road race is called a Marathon . Marathon runners have to prepare themselves, to make their body fit  for the race .

Homeostasis is the ability of a system or living organism to adjust its internal environment to maintain a state of dynamic constancy , such as the ability of warm blooded animals in maintaining a stable temperature.

To maintain the homeostasis of the body during a Marathon , runners have to prepare their body for the race.

* The runners have to take long run training all most every day or 6 to 7 times of schedule in a week.

* Keep the body hydrated alwas, take plenty of fluids

* Run a half marathon before one month of Actual marathon race.

* Inbetween take the rest days for curing your muscles from injury.  

* Select an appropriate shoe of light weight, but have an adequate support. Run a 10 mile with shoe before the day of Marathon and check the suitability of the shoes.  

During:

* Adrenaline hormone helps to prepare the body for run. Increased oxygen and fuel demand of  the body can be met by increased breathing and heart pumping due to the influence of hormone Adrenaline.  

* During a Marathon, 30 fold increase in body temperature may happen due to extensive activity, that involves all muscles and most of the organs in the body. Increase in Temperature is balanced by the Homeostasis mechanisms, especially sweating, blood pools to the underneath of skin and stimulate the sweat glands.  

- Three to five llitters of sweat loss may occur during an entire course of Marathon. It is important for the runner to hydrate himself during the race, otherwise Dehydration and othe compilication may occr, especially if the environmental temperature is more. Drink on the run , especially sports drinks. Take a pause inbetween and drink the fluids. Keep the bottles piorly on the way you are going to run, if you are not taking the bottle in hand.

* Calorie intake: approximately 100 calories from glucose may get burned for a mile . Body may experience  hypoglycemia if there is no proper supply of calories.  

Sugary gels or sports drinks can be consumed by the runner to maintain the calorie level.  

* joint pain and muscle soreness of legs , thighs and arms will be relieved within 2 to 3 days.
