Do you think mental health providers should be able to decline to provide services to individuals whose lifestyle they find morally wrong? Should clinicians have the freedom to select who they wish to treat on the basis of their own values or beliefs? Why or why not
Mental health providers cannot decline services to individuals whose lifestyle are morally wrong. Suitable advice or counselling can be arranged. Health providers cannot refuse or delay treatment because of our belief patients lifestyle or actions contributed to this condition.
Clinicians cannott select patients based on their values and beliefs. They should put patient need ahead of their personal beliefs. If they have any conscientious objection againist any treatment or surgery ( eg in abortion like cases) based on their belief they can refer them to another doctor with proper reason and should answer their questions and doubts. The clinician also should make sure that they get proper treatment otherwise its considered unethical. The clinicians should not make assumptions on their belief and should treat them with respect and dignity.
