WBC (leukocytes) are an important part of the body's defense against infections organisms and foregin substances (immune system). A high WBC count is an increase in disease-fighting cells in our blood. In general, for adults a count of more than 11000 white blood cell (leukocytes) in a microliter of blood is considered a high WBC count.

leukocytosis an increase in the number of WBC to more than 11000 cells per microliter of blood, is often caused by the normal responce of the body to help fight an infection, or to some drugs such as corticosteroids. ( normal range of WBC in adult 4000-11000)

WBC cells are produced primarily in the bone marrow. they develop from stem cells that mature into one or the five major types of WBCs.

1. Neutrophils

2. Lymphocytes

3. Monocytes

4. Eosinophils

5. Basophils

The main cause of high WBC is to immune system fight with viral, fungal, bacterial, or parasitic infection. A negative reaction to a drug that triggers an immune and WBC responce. Disease or malfunction that cause the bone marrow to overproduce WBC.

Hydroxyurea is sometimes given to lower very high WBC count rapidly until a diagnosis is confirmed through blood and bone marrow tests.

ANSWER 2

Various health problems and conditions can create a favorable environment that would encourage the development of infection.
