Briefly explain why suggesting a specific new diet to lower BMI, based only on evidence that the proportion of saturated fat the diet contains is very low, does not fit into the concept of “evidence-based medicine”?
Obesity a growing problem in the healthcare sector. People has become conscious to maintain their weight in normal range for a healthy life. There are many causes which can lead to obesity. One major cause of it is the unhealthy diet .Saturated fats are considered to be the key component to make one overweight . These fats get deposited in the body over a period of time very easily .They has a very high calorie .Prolonged increase intake of saturated fats will finally lead to weight gain. In order to reduce weight or the BMI first saturated fats are reduced .So that there will be no extra calories and body will get calories from other dietary sources and lead to weight loss. This cannot be considered on the part of evidence based medicine which is purely achieved after a thorough research of the relation between saturated fats and weight loss.
