ANSWER:
Course competency can be achieved from their own Institute or from outside of institute like short courses provided by WHO, and many other health agencies. Different courses are available which we can learn to improve ourselves.
Example: Standard precautions: hand hygiene provided by WHO

Course Competencies
ANSWER:
This new knowledge which we gain from course competencies will help directly in nursing practice by following the steps, rules, procedures which we learn during the course. The theory we learn will apply when we do nursing practice and will have a great impact on efficiency of the performance of nurse.
· Apply strategies for safe, effective multidimensional nursing practice when providing basic care and comfort for clients.
ANSWER:
First the nurse have adequate knowledge to provide basic care safe and effectively. The theoretical knowledge should be apply to nursing practice too.
Nurse must follow the standard operating procedures of the hospital to avoid any kind of mistakes and errors.
Nurses should be aware of hospital policies and protocols of safe handling of patients, basic care procedure and comforting he patients.
· Select appropriate nursing interventions when providing multidimensional care to clients experiencing alterations in mobility.
ANSWER:
Provide a safe environment: bed rails up, bed in a down position, important items close by.
Assist patient for muscle exercises as able or when allowed out of bed; execute abdominal-tightening exercises and knee bends; hop on foot; stand on toes.
Establish measures to prevent skin breakdown and thrombophlebitis from prolonged immobility, like Clean, dry, and moisturize skin as necessary.
Execute passive or active assistive ROM exercises to all extremities.
Provide foam or flotation mattress, water or air mattress or kinetic therapy bed, as necessary.
Turn and position the patient every 2 hours or as needed.
Present suggestions for nutritional intake for adequate energy resources and metabolic requirements.
· Explain components of multidimensional nursing care for clients with musculoskeletal disorders.
ANSWER:
Perform active or passive ROM exercises to all extremities every 2 to 4 hours to foster muscle strength and tone, maintain joint mobility, and prevent contractures.
• Turn and reposition the patient every 2 hours to prevent skin breakdown and improve breathing.
• Maintain proper body alignment at all times to avoid contractures and maintain optimal musculoskeletal balance and physiologic function.
• Teach isometric exercises to allow the patient to maintain or increase muscle tone and joint mobility.
• Have the patient perform self-care activities. Begin slowly and increase daily, as tolerated. These activities help the patient regain his health.
Provide emotional support and encouragement to help improve patient self-esteem and provide the motivation to perform ADLs.
Providing Adequate Nutrition
· Prioritize strategies for safe, effective multidimensional nursing practice when providing care for clients experiencing sensory and perception disorders.
ANSWER:
· Provision of safety using, for example, falls risk protocols for those at risk for falls and keeping dangerous cleaning chemicals in a secure and safe place
· Frequent monitoring of the client
· Maintaining of the client's comfort
Provision of an environment that is not loaded with extraneous stimuli
Reorientation of the client to time, place and person as often as necessary
Communicating with the client at eye level and will maintaining eye contact
Assist the client with meals to make sure the patient takes properly.

Inspect skin, particularly scalp, for scabies and pediculosis before and after treatment; assess for skin irritation
Use gown, gloves, and hair covering to prevent spread of parasitic arthropods because scabies and pediculosis are highly contagious

Adhere to strict surgical asepsis; cleanse and ensure débridement before application
Apply prescribed medications

Provide good nutritious diet, stay hydrated.

ANSWER:

Example knowledge on standard precautions waste management will help the nurse practice safety measures of waste management, avoid from mismanagement of waste materials in hospital.
By learning about decontamination and sterilization of medical devices the nurse will be able to practice how to decontaminate and sterilized medical devices which we used every day in hospital.
