Pathophysiology of Appendectomy?

The appendix is a pouch-like sac of tissue which is small and located in the cecum in the lower right abdomen. Appendicitis is the inflammation of appendix and it became filled with pus. When inflammation occurs appendix will be removed through surgical procedure and this surgical procedure is called appendectomy.

Pathophysiology of appendicitis

Etiological factors such as age, inactive life style, diet pattern, bowel movement

                          Block in appendiceal lumen

                   Reduced blood flow to the tissue

  

                    Inflammation of the serosa of appendix

  

               Pressure within the appendix increases (Intraluminal)

     

                                     Puss formation

     

                          Risk of rupture of appendix

Appendectomy /medicines ( if not treated, it will leads to septicemia and even death)
