Culture is defined as the totality of socially transmitted pattern of thoughts, values, meanings, and beliefs. Since genetic counselling is emerging field in the Philippines, it is an opportune time to explore on the common cultural beliefs that influence Filipino people's conceptualization of genetic conditions with the goal providing culturally competent genetic counseling services in the country. A culturally competent care provider should be responsive to patients coming from various backgrounds. Counseling the patient in a right way can help the patient in their recovery process. The counseling should be done in correct manner by letting the person underlying the treatment about their responsibilities and how they should behave during this process and what actions should be taken by them.
