Depends upon the duties and resposibilities given to the nurse they are differentiated as public health nurse and community health nurse.

Public health nurse

A public health nurse is a person trained to give health care to prevent disease and promotion of health for entire population group.The public health nurse gives care through a process of evaluation and assassment of the needs of individuals in their population group.

Role of public health nurse

The role of public health nurse includes providing health care (preventive,promotive, curative and responsibilitives)to all individual s, families,and communities in the respective field.

-Give trainig ,supervising and guiding the health workers to provide health care to the community.

-Responsible for planning the health programmes like(family planning programs and planning RMNCH)

-Carrying out the supervisory functions to guide the home vist in the area covered by the health worker

- co -ordinating the work of the male and female health workers

-Arranging health educational programmes for the community

-Assisting in conducting school health programmes and maintain the school health records.

- Responsible for assisting in national health programmes

Community health nurse

Community health nurse is a person who trained the general nursing but also has the extra qualification to work in the community. community health nurse has to function according to the organizational structure and exprience also influenced the job chart.Moreover the community health nurse s special concerns are looking after healthy families,treatment of the patient who are not hospitalized.

Role of community health nurse

Communty health nurse should be a good health care provider ,care should be given according to the priority

-Should be a counsellor , listen the problems of the people and have the ability to solve the problems

-be a researcher,assessing and collecting information also finding the health problems about the community

-plan to provide comprehensive nursing services to the individuals ,family and the community

-should be plan and distribution of work among the co workers

-monthly should have the self assessment

-sending report to the higher authority

these are the main roles of the community healh nurse.

The public health and community health professionals play an important role in creating health care plan and awareness campaigns. their works and responsibilities different each other where they are employed. The public health nurse often work for the government usually where the populaion required the nursing care ,where as community health nurse maximize the health status of the individuals ,families and groupes within the community. these are the reason the public health nurse and community health nurse different each other.
