IN CASE OF TODDLER

patients in this stage may express separation anxiety, despair, detachment especially during hospitalization

During detachment  phase ,the toddler becomes more interested in the environment ,plays with others and seems to form a new relationship ;this behaviour is a form of resignation and is not a sign of contentment

HOW TO APPROACH TODDLER DURING HOSPITALIZATION

provide choices as much aspossible to the toddler to enable him or her to have some control

approach the toddler with a positive attitude

allow the toddler to express feeling of protest

encourage the toddler to talk about parents or others in their lives

accept regressive behavior without ridiculing the toddler

TO CONCLUDE,nurse has the responsibility to understand the above pecularities of behaviour, otherwise we cannot maintain  a healthy nurse patient relationship
