Type 2 errors also called as false negative errors, it occurs when researchers fails to reject null hypothesis which is actually false in reality

Type 2 errors are important in evidence based practice than basic science research because:

  • It will effect the treatment of the patient where researcher finds the medicine is not effective but in reality it does.due to this doctor may need to change the medicine or increase the dose which may harm the patient
  • Type 2 errors can will effect the overall health of the people by getting false negative results. the researchers will determine that studies are significant and implemented in to practice
  • The laboratory tests for disease may be negative for the patient but actually the patient is infected, this will delay the diagnosis and treatment which may leads to complications and delay in recovery
  • Type 2 errors can have serious consequences from a public health standpoint
