The ICD 10 is the 10th revision of the international statitical classification of disease and related healht problems.it is a diagnostic coding system implemented by the world health organization in 1993 to replace ICD 9 like all medical coding system it provides a way to condense textual clinical information in to codes that can be used for billing and other data based applications.

The ICD helps the nurses in,

  • Designing payment system and processing claims for reimbursement
  • Setting health policy
  • Measuring the quality ,efficiency, safety of care
  • conduct research epidemological studies and clinical trials
  • Operational and strategic planning and designing health care delivery system
